HIMSS and Malaysia’s largest ambulatory care provider, CareClinics, forge partnership on digital transformation

CareClinics, a Malaysian private clinic group, made a pact with HIMSS to support the latter on its digital transformation journey.

Founded in 2003, the company now operates a national network of over 100 primary care clinics. As per the memorandum of understanding, CareClinics will leverage HIMSS’s digital maturity and capacity frameworks to develop a digital health ecosystem that it said helps in supporting patient-centric care, predictive population health and proactive health and wellness for the Malaysian population.

HIMSS’s vast global network of subject-matter experts will be available to CareClinic as it continues to evolve and develop its digital capabilities.

CareClinics and HIMSS will work together to develop education and workforce development programs like professional certifications & specialized courses to improve the skill level of digital health workers.

The Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) is now promoting digital reform to modernize the health sector in the country. An EMR system that is nationwide should be looked at as the first step in achieving “one individual, one record.”

The national EMR project of the government was launched in 2021 and is expected to be completed next year. Full implementation of the national EMR system is targeted for 2026.
