Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited (BDMS) recently conducted the BDMS Academic Annual Meeting 2024 from November 18 to 22 at the BDMS Connect Center in Bangkok, concentrating on the fusion of patient-centered care with the global movement towards Value-Based Healthcare. The conference, designed to encourage the sharing of medical knowledge, featured a keynote address from Ms. Jennifer L. Bright, who serves as the President and CEO of the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM).
The event emphasized the necessity of transitioning from conventional process-oriented healthcare models to outcome-focused metrics that place importance on patient results, such as quality of life and functional capabilities. This strategy aims to tackle worldwide healthcare challenges, including escalating costs and limited resources, with the goal of enhancing clinical outcomes while minimizing inefficiencies.
In partnership with BDMS, ICHOM has been at the forefront of creating standardized outcome measurement tools that correspond with patient requirements. With 46 specific outcome sets for various diseases encompassing 60% of the global disease burden, ICHOM’s frameworks have been adopted by over 500 healthcare systems worldwide, leading to better outcomes and increased cost-effectiveness.
